Naptown Sound - Indy Jazz Fest 2024
Naptown Sound at Indy Jazz Fest is a celebration of the music of our city. With performances by the musicians and vocalists who keep Indy alive with the music all year long, it is a night to thank these artists and to enjoy the jazz community at its finest in support of live music. I am proud to say we can no longer truly call our town Naptown.
Here was the lineup:
• INDIANA HIGH SCHOOL ALL-STATE JAZZ COMBO with special guest Derrick Gardner - Directed by Chris Drabyn
• FREDDIE HUBBARD TRIBUTE - featuring the INDIANAPOLIS JAZZ COLLECTIVE of Rob Dixon on sax, Steve Allee on piano, Kenny Phelps on drums, Nick Tucker on bass with special guests Pharez Whitted, Derrick Gardner and David Allee on trumpets.
• VOCALEASE – with vocalists Wendy Reed, Sandy Lomax, Rebecca Rafla, and Emma Hedrick and with the supporting band of Steve Allee on piano, Jesse Wittman on bass and Dorian Phelps on drums.
• BASHIRI ASAD & THE LADY
• THE BLUE SIDE - with Tad Robinson on vocals and harmonica, Gordon Bonham on vocals and guitar, Goldie Ingram vocals, Kevin Anker, on the Hammond B3 organ, Kenny Phelps on drums, Rob Dixon on sax and Derrick Gardner on trumpet.
• PAVEL & DIRECT CONTACT – with Pavel Polanco-Safadit on vocals and keys, Leah Crane vocals, Steve Dokken on bass, Matt McGraw on drums, Gerardo Beccera on congas, Rich Cohen on sax, Rich Dole on trombone, and David Allee on trumpet.
