Collaborative Recording Sessions

From The 317 is a project led by IJF Artistic Director Rob Dixon. Indiana artists have been collaborating in the studio. They have had several recording sessions throughout April and continue to work on the new album. Jazz fans following this project are anxiously awaiting the album release which is coming soon!

During one recording session, singer, songwriter, and guitarist Rebekah Kay came to the studio to play her original tune.

“I’ve been going to listen to Rob and the guys at the Chatterbox whenever I can, and I have so much respect for them as instrumentalists. When Rob found my song on Instagram and asked if I would like to record it with them, I jumped at the chance. Like are you kidding me?!

It was so fun to spend some time in the studio and watch these wildly gifted musicians add their layers to the song so effortlessly. The engineer was amazing too. It was a good hang all around.

I’m grateful this little song that I never expected to make it off Instagram now gets a second life on the new record, and I hope it’s meaningful for some people.”
