Indy Jazz Fest 2009
September 21-27

The Indianapolis Jazz Foundation

April is right around the corner...and it is Jazz Appreciation Month! To kick things off, the Jazz Kitchen, 54th and College Ave, will be hosting The Indianapolis Guitar Summit on April 2nd, featuring special guest Henry Johnson, who has played with a who's who list of jazz luminaries, including Ramsey Lewis and Nancy Wilson. On April 3rd, the Jazz Foundation will be hosting a special pre-show event in the back room at the Jazz Kitchen, with a meet and greet with Steve Allee, who later will be performing with his Big Band to celebrate the 16th anniversary of The Jazz Kitchen.

Holiday Showcase Sells Out

This years Holiday Jazz Showcase was a great success...we sold out and had to set up extra tables to try and accomodate the overflow crowd. Thank you one and all who came out and supported us!!! There were fabulous performances by Brenda Williams, Larry and Everett Greene, Tommy Wills, and a special tribute to Mary Moss, who jumped onstage to delight us with her great voice and dazzling smile (not to mention her beautiful, as always, gown). We inducted Tommy Wills, Al Coleman, Reggie DuValle, Frank Smith, and Bill Penick into our Indianapolis Jazz Hall of Fame, and all who attended thought it was our best showcase ever. Of course that only challenges us to reach even greater heights this year!
