Indy Jazz Fest 2011

The Indianapolis Jazz Foundation

IJF Holiday Showcase December 14th at The Jazz Kitchen!

We are once again gearing up for a great Holiday Showcase! We are equally excited to be moving the event back to The Jazz Kitchen, 5377 N. College Avenue. This year's event will happen Wednesday, December 14th. As always, great food, great music, our Hall Of Fame inductions, and our scholarship announcements.

This year we have a great class going into our HOF, including Allen "Turk" Burke, Carl Hines, Gene Markiewicz, Gary Walters, and Steve Weakley. All five are extremely active on the Indianapolis music scene, and their music set promises to be smoking! We will also have a performance by our collegiate scholarship winners, and the Jesse Wittman trio will provide music throughout the evening. Once again we will be conducting a silent auction...this year in the back banquet room of the Jazz Kitchen.

Tickets are $20, and food and cash bar will be available for purchase!

2011 Indy Jazz Fest

This year's Indy Jazz Fest enjoyed great weather (probably the best weather in our history), and great performances from Spyro Gyra, The Yellowjackets, George Benson, Trombone Shorty, Melvin Rhyne, The Indianapolis Guitar Summit, Cathy Morris, and WOW. George Benson even stopped by the Legacy Stage for 45 minutes to watch Jazz Foundation President Bill Lancton and the Indpls. Guitar Summit! The Jazz Foundation's Legacy Tent was a hub of activity, with visits from many musicians, including Dr. David Baker, and countless fans interested in our photographic presentation on the history of great jazz in Indy. We look forward to 2012!

Founded in 1994, Indianapolis Jazz Foundation's mission is to preserve the legacy and promote the future of jazz in Indianapolis, through education and performance. The Foundation is active in presenting jazz clinics in schools and venues in the central Indiana area.

Once again we would like to thank Chuck Workman for his time and generosity. Our annual Labor Day Chuck Workman Garage Sale helped raise much needed cash for our educational programs. Thanks Chuck!
