Founded in 1994, the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation's mission is to preserve the legacy and promote the future of jazz in Indianapolis, through education and performance.

As part of this mission, the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation initiates programs which nurture and promote the understanding and appreciation of jazz and its heritage, provides leadership for educational outreach programs, assist teachers and practitioners with information and resources, and takes an active part in organizing clinics and symposia at local and regional levels.
